The Mega Millions jackpot resets to $20 million for Aug. 2, after a ticket sold in Illinois finally hit the seemingly ever-growing prize on Friday. The winner brought the 30-drawing jackpot run to an end, winning the second largest Mega Millions prize ever awarded. Every Mega Millions drawing offers life-changing prizes, and tonight’s jackpot has a lump sum cash value of $11.6 million before withholding.
The soaring ticket sales caused by the whopping jackpot last week resulted in more big winners than usual across the country, including two winners of $1 million or more in Pennsylvania. In total, 26 tickets won the second-tier prize by matching all the numbers, except for the gold Mega Ball.
Six of those tickets included the Megaplier option, which doubled the prizes to $2 million each. The other 20 tickets are worth $1 million apiece.

Two PA Lottery players won a combined $3 million on Mega Millions
The big PA winners from Friday’s drawing bought their tickets in Montgomery and Lackawanna counties.
The Lackawanna County winner managed to come away with the $2 million win by spending an extra buck on the optional Megaplier when buying their ticket. That ticket was purchased in Scranton, at Joe’s Kwik Marts on 701 North Keyser Ave. The retailer earned a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
A 7-Eleven store in Norristown sold the other big PA winner. Located at 226 West Germantown Pike, its retailer bonus was $5,000.
Also in Friday’s drawing, 19 PA players matched four out of five white balls, plus the Mega Ball, with each receiving $10,000. Two more tickets matched the same combination with the Megaplier to win $20,000 each.
