Live! Casino Philadelphia adds huge convention and event center

Live! Casino Philadelphia has a new place to party and plan – a 15,000 square-foot meeting, event, and convention space adjoining their gaming and hotel complex in the Stadium District.

Taking bookings now, the Event Center offers groups customizable space and expansive pre-function options.

Details of the new spaces at Live!

The event spaces are:

  • A 10,000 square-foot main ballroom named for Market Street
  • Two 1,600 square-foot breakout rooms, named Liberty, for the Independence Hall area, and Rittenhouse, for tony Rittenhouse Square.
  • Three executive boardrooms

The boardrooms are designated:

  • Franklin, after Philly entrepreneur and favorite son Ben Franklin and Franklin Square
  • Roosevelt, after Roosevelt Boulevard, and named for President Teddy Roosevelt
  • Whitman, after Camden poet Walt Whitman. The Whitman Bridge connects Philly and Camden, and the base is near Live!

A boardroom named after Whitman at Live! would charm the poet

Doug Winterich, formerly the caretaker of the Whitman House in Camden, knows Whitman had some pithy things to say about wealth.

Winterich even joked that maybe the Live! folks had perhaps thought the name of Whitman’s seminal book of poetry was Leaves of Chips, not Leaves of Grass.

A Whitman casino boardroom likely would have flattered the poet, Winterich thinks.

“Walt was a great self-promoter. Naming a casino boardroom probably fits his personality. He never overlooked a gift. He did like a good party.”

The sky is the limit on the rooftop

Meetings can also be rooftop events on the property’s parking structure, with outdoor gatherings that provide incredible views of the city skyline and the Stadium District.

Live! promises the spaces will come with the services and amenities of a luxury hotel and world-class casino.

The casino recently was picked by Casino Player magazine as the best overall resort in PA. USA Today has Live! on the ballot for the best casino resort outside Las Vegas.

Already booking events at Live!

According to a spokeswoman, already booked are weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, and non-profit galas.

Live entertainment, including boxing on Nov. 18, is coming. A series of tribute bands and former Eagles football snapper Jon Dorenbos mixes magic, music, and football.

Kelley Maddox, Vice President of Sales at Live! Philadelphia said:

“From the moment you step into our facility, you are officially a part of the Live! family. Live! is committed to providing guests with a best-in-class entertainment experience, led by a best-in-class team in one of the most unique and exciting locations in Philadelphia – the Stadium District.

“We are dedicated to making your experience unforgettable, and to the highest safety standards, from the moment you step onto our property to the moment you leave. We are setting a new standard for all meetings and events.”

The property features a 208-room luxury hotel, on-site covered parking, gaming, and nightly entertainment.

The facility also features 11 dining options, including the Zagat-rated #1 steakhouse, The Prime Rib.

Team-building opportunities like learning table games such as blackjack, taking an art walk in the building, participating in chef tastings, and more are also possible.

Live! Philadelphia is located six miles from the Philadelphia International Airport. The property is directly off I-76 and I-95, within South Philadelphia’s Stadium District.
