The Cordish Companies are doing something at Pennsylvania casinos that’s never been done before. Live! Casino Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are launching a new program called Giant Jackpots.
The Live! locations are the first to offer joint property progressive slot jackpots with huge earnings at stake. It’s expected to attract new customers and increase the excitement inside the casinos.
Pennsylvania players at both Live! facilities have chances to win $50,000 or more.
Giant Jackpots come to joint Pennsylvania casinos
The instructions of the Giant Jackpots promotion at Live! Casino Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are rather simple. Play a slot machine eligible for the promotion and win up to $100,000. Live! players are required to use their rewards card to enter the 
contest.
The jackpot starts at $50,000 and grows every time a player at Live! Casino Philadelphia and Pittsburgh make a spin at an eligible slot machine.
The jackpot increases until someone wins, and resets back at $50,000. The most a participant can win through the promo is $100,000. Live! Casino is guaranteeing winners when it reaches that amount.
Live! Casino Philadelphia is starting the promotion on April 28 with an accelerated program. The accelerated program starts at $25,000 and tops out at $50,000.
“Something Giant is coming to Live! and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Brian Uran, Vice President of Marketing for Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. “It’s our mission to bring fresh, new ways for our Live! Rewards Card members to play and win, and our Giant Jackpots program fits the bill perfectly. The program has been a huge success at our sister property in Maryland and we expect the same energy at our properties across Pennsylvania.”
Live! Casino Pittsburgh starts the promotion on May 1.
New promotion expected to bring more customers to Live! Casino
With jackpots as high as $100,000, the new program is expected to attract new customers.
Both Live! locations each feature approximately 2,750 slot machines, all of which are eligible for the Giant Jackpots promotions. Only electronic table games and video poker machines are excluded from the promotion.
As Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a little more than two years old, the establishment is starting to see attendance patterns shifting.
“As time moves forward, we’re seeing a core audience now,” General Manager Sean Sullivan told PlayPennsylvania last month. “And what you see is the average investment in entertainment spend by the customer has gone up, but the number of customers slightly goes down.”
When the casino first opened in November 2020, it welcomed many “lookie-loos,” which is a customer visiting a new casino without spending much money.
New promotions with huge jackpots aim to attract different customers hoping to win big.
“Giant Jackpots will allow us to attract new slot customers who may not have played at Live! before,” Bryan Prettyman, Vice President of Slots & Marketing for Live! Casino Pittsburgh, said. “As the Giant Jackpots meter advances, it will create unprecedented excitement on the casino floor because players will know the jackpot is going to hit by the time it reaches $100,000. It’s not only a game changer for the market, but a potential life changer for the lucky winners.”
Since Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a PA mini-casino, Sullivan told PlayPennsylvania last month the energy inside is always buzzing, even if attendance isn’t as high on weeknights.
“In the bigger casinos, you can go in and shoot a cannon and not hit anybody. They may have the same amount of people but it’s not that close knit energy [we have at Live! Casino Pittsburgh].”
Live! Casino Philadelphia and Pittsburgh slot revenue
Both Live! properties have fared well in the state in terms of revenue figures.
Live! Casino Philadelphia ranked seventh in the state in revenue in 2022, recording $122.5 million. However, the South Philadelphia casino ranks much higher in table games. Live! Casino Philadelphia brought in $100.4 million in 2022, placing behind just Wind Creek Bethlehem ($243.7 million) and Parx Casino Bensalem ($204.9 million).
Live! Casino Pittsburgh is much further down, but ranked No. 1 in terms of mini-casinos in PA. The Pittsburgh casino posted $95.8 million of revenue last year.
