Thanks to Pennsylvania’s record-breaking September of $187.3 million in online casino revenue, the state is closing in on another milestone. With a strong October, online slot revenue could exceed $4 billion in lifetime earnings in 2023.

While there will always be a place for table games, especially live dealer options, online slots are the Keystone State’s moneymaker. PA online casinos are constantly unveiling new slot games and features.

Slots to reach $4 billion in lifetime revenue for PA online casinos

Pennsylvania online casinos dropped the hammer by recording $187.3 million in September revenue, shattering March’s total of $181.5 million. It was the first time that online PA slots surpassed $140 million in any single month. The vertical delivered $142.6 million in September revenue.

After the record-breaking performance, lifetime slot revenue sits at $3.9 billion. To achieve $4 billion, Pennsylvania online casinos need to record $110.7 million in October slot revenue. The state is averaging $128.4 million in slot earnings per month in 2023. It hasn’t been below $110 million since September 2022.

Online slot revenue for just this current year has already crossed $1 billion with August’s total of $132.2 million. It accounts for 74.2% of online casino revenue so far in 2023.

PA casino online slots not slowing down

Online slots in Pennsylvania do not appear to be hitting a wall any time soon. In fact, the sector continues to grow in revenue and offerings.

During FY 2022/2023, online slots increased 31% from the previous year, producing $1.08 billion in revenue. Pennsylvania online slots are expected to generate around $1.5 billion in the calendar year 2023, which shatters the mark set during the 12-month period of FY 2022/2023. In 2022, online slots recorded $1.2 billion in earnings.

There are a lot of factors as to why slots continue to grow. For starters, there are more than 8,000 slot games across 20 different platforms in Pennsylvania. Borgata Casino PA and BetMGM Casino PA each lead the way with nearly 2,500 slots combined.

BetMGM just partnered with Atlantic Digital to debut “The Godfather” slot, along with other titles from popular TV shows and movies down the road. It’s possible the operator adds even more TV shows and movie slots with this partnership.

BetMGM has also recently unveiled a popular restaurant slot, Buffalo Wild Wings, as another way to connect a large brand to PA players.

Pennsylvania is home to three new platforms this year, as well:

All three operators have contributed to the success of the market. Harrah’s Philadelphia, operating Tropicana and Caesars Casino PA, produced $7.5 million in September revenue, the most ever for the license.

Golden Nugget generated an impressive $6.4 million in September earnings in its first full month, good for sixth among PA licenses.

Bally’s recorded $2.2 million in September, which was still ahead of Unibet Casino PA.

The Pennsylvania market has shown that the more games and platforms there are, the more people play.
