As the 2023 calendar year winds down, lots of reflection is done by just about everyone. In the gaming industry, many casino guests are going to reflect on the biggest wins of 2023.
PlayPennsylvania asked multiple PA casinos to provide the top jackpots awarded to customers throughout the year. A lot of the jackpots reported involve life-changing money.
Let’s take a look back at some of the biggest victories in Pennsylvania this year.
Bad Beat Jackpot hits for nearly $1 million at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh
PA online casinos offer tons of jackpot prize money. However, retail Pennsylvania casinos are also great places to win some hard-earned cash.
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh had one of the biggest wins of the year when the Bad Beat Jackpot hit for $905,622 in November. The total was split between eight poker players after one holding four aces was bested by another with a royal flush. Here is how the money was divided:
- $362,250 to the losing hand
- $271,686 to the winning hand
- $45,281 each to the remaining six players
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh general manager, Bud Green, said in a press release:
“We are unexpectedly and happily becoming a national bad beat jackpot hotspot. Congratulations to our winning guests and to our Rivers Pittsburgh Poker Room Team Members for doing a terrific job.”
The nearly $1 million payout comes on the heels of setting a US record last year, when the Bad Beat Jackpot reached $1.15 million.
Despite the $905,622 jackpot being divided eight ways, $362,250 isn’t a bad payday.

Live! Casino Philadelphia player cashes for almost $500,000 in 2023
The largest winner at Live! Casino Philadelphia won $486,809 playing Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em in July. That is the biggest individual win of any kind reported to PlayPennsylvania during 2023.
The South Philadelphia casino also posted six-figure slot wins, too. In August, two guests hit the top slot jackpots. The wins are as follows:
- $139,181 on Lightning Link Sahara Gold slot
- $126,148 on Crystal Star Deluxe
For an honorable mention slot prize, the next largest jackpot earned at the property was $125,000 playing the Huff N’ Puff slot in September.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh delivers $145,000 jackpot win
As a PA mini-casino, Live! Casino Pittsburgh doesn’t always give away the biggest jackpots in the state. However, the casino reported to PlayPennsylvania two huge six-figure wins for customers.
The most notable came in September, when a lucky winner hit for $145,585.02 on a $10 spin, playing Piggy Bankin’. The next largest occurred in July, when Daniel J. placed a $7.50 wager on the Huff n’ More Puff PA slots game. It was a spin that netted him $140,794.48.
The facility endured a stretch from Nov. 10-13 where Live! Casino Pittsburgh paid out $884,079 in jackpots to customers. Despite the high amount, general manager, Sean Smith, expressed his excitement in a press release emailed to PlayPennsylvania earlier this month:
“We always love having our guests win big when visiting Live! Casino, but having four guests win so much in one weekend is something truly special. The energy in the room after each guest won was incredible, and we are honored to have shared those moments with our staff and these guests.”
Pennsylvania poker player wins big at Rivers Casino Philadelphia this year
The largest jackpot reported to PlayPennsylvania won $360,100 at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, playing Ultimate X Poker in October. Another player hit a royal flush in June playing Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, paying a whopping $304,195.
The largest slot jackpot of 2023 for Rivers also happened in June, when a customer won $152,513.31 on a $10 wager playing Lock It Link Dynamite. A different slot player earned $131,184, enjoying Lightning Link Sahara Gold in October.
Hopefully, customers can win even more massive jackpots at PA casinos in 2024.
