As the dog days of summer are approaching, Pennsylvania online casinos still set a milestone despite a slight cooldown. In figures released from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), online casino operators already exceeded $1 billion in yearly revenue thanks to June’s output of $164.3 million.
With many Pennsylvanians starting to plan for summer vacations outside the state, June revenue remained strong, though it’s the lowest output since February. It’s still the seventh straight month the Keystone State exceeded more than $160 million in revenue.
PlayPennsylvania Managing Editor, Chris Imperiale, said:
“Pennsylvania online casinos once again posted a solid month in June, recording $164.3 million in gross revenue. While this is down about $6 million from May, it is now the seventh consecutive month in which PA online casinos exceeded $160 million in earnings. The total was an impressive increase of more than 30% year over year, as the Pennsylvania market continues to stand above the rest in the US. Revenue shouldn’t slow down anytime soon either, especially with the lack of great sports betting markets for the remainder of the summer.”

Quick analysis from June PA online casino figures
- Pennsylvania generated its lowest online casino revenue output since February. Much of that can be attributed to the summer starting to set in, while it’s also difficult to maintain a high level of play month after month. Though June posted a slightly slower month, Pennsylvania still beat out New Jersey, which produced $149.3 million in revenue. A down month for Pennsylvania is still beating out most other states handily.
- Pennsylvania online casinos just surpassed the $1 billion yearly revenue threshold after June’s total. The market is projected to shatter the 2022 revenue total of $1.67 billion.
- PA online casinos were up 30% year over year in June. Slot play increased the most at 32.8% from last June. Slots produced $95.7 million in revenue last year compared to $127.1 million this past month.
