July 4 falls on a Tuesday this year, and celebrations at Pennsylvania casinos are set to kickoff this weekend. Some casinos are even extending parties into the following weekend.
Many PA casinos are hosting events, games and promotions to celebrate America’s 246th birthday.
Party on the Pier at Rivers Casino Philadelphia
Rivers Casino Philadelphia is celebrating the July 4 holiday on Sunday, July 2, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Guests are to enjoy live entertainment, games, Philly food trucks and fireworks.
Live music begins at 6 p.m. with The Ultimate King of Pop, a Michael Jackson tribute performance starting at 7:30. The fireworks show over the Delaware River begins at 9.
Guests can enjoy games and activities, such as cornhole, giant games of pong, Connect 4, Jenga, face painting and a balloon artist.
General Manager Eric Althaus on the night’s festivities:
“We’re excited to celebrate this Fourth of July weekend with another Party on the Pier. With outstanding musical performances and great food, family fun, and fireworks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this spectacular event.”
The event is free and also pet-friendly.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia is hosting a Sunday Funday on July 2, which includes trivia and $2 Miller Lite beers and Simply Spiked Lemonade. Guests can play anytime by simply scanning the sportsbook QR code with their mobile device. The monthly winner wins four tickets to a Phillies game.
The casino is also holding a poker tournament over the weekend. The schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, July 1, 10:15 a.m.: $70 NLH (beginners)
- Sunday, July 2, 11:15 a.m.: $160 NLH ($5,000 guarantee)
- Tuesday, July 4, 6:15 p.m.: $70 NLH (beginner’s tournament)
80’s dance party at Mount Airy Casino
Mount Airy Casino is turning back the clock to celebrate July 4 this year. The casino is hosting a “Totally 80s” dance party and costume contest from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 1.
The festivities include lots of dancing and a cash bar. The winner of the costume party will be announced at 10:45 p.m. with a $500 cash-prize.
Hassan Abdel-Moneim, Mount Airy’s Vice President of Resort Operations, said:
“The world may have changed since the 80s, but the era’s iconic music and fashions – from Madonna’s midriff-baring tops to Michael Jackson’s sequined glove – never get old. This party is going to be bodacious.”
Tickets for the event are $20, which can be purchased on the casino’s website.
Harrah’s Philadelphia fireworks show
Harrah’s Philadelphia is waiting until July 8 to celebrate the holiday.
The party starts at 6 p.m. at Harrah’s Backyard, located right on the patio of the grandstand at the racetrack.
The event is free, but VIP tickets are available for parties of six people or more. VIP tickets include a private table, barbecue buffet and premium seating for the fireworks show, which starts at 9:30.
Philadelphia Union fans can also enjoy watching a road match against the LA Galaxy. Harrah’s Philadelphia and the Union have partnered together for every home game for the rest of the season.
Parx Casino red, white and spin promotion
On July 4, from noon until 8 p.m., Parx Casino in Bensalem is choosing one lucky winner every 15 minutes to spin the Lucky Wheel filled with notable free slot play prizes up to $1,000.
The racetrack at Parx will also be open, with post time starting at 12:40 p.m.
Live! Casino Philadelphia July 4 prizes

A tribute to Queen at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh is hosting a free, outdoor summer concert on July 1. Queen Legacy – A Tribute to Queen is performing at 8 p.m. at the Rivers Casino Amphitheater.
The Pittsburgh casino is touting the band as the most authentic Queen tribute in the entire country.
