It’s hard not to notice the new mini-casino, Hollywood Casino Morgantown. Located off Exit 298 in Morgantown, Penn National’s newest property is visible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Address: 6021 Morgantown Road, Morgantown, PA 19543. Conveniently located at the intersections of three major roadways: the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76), I-176, and the Morgantown Expressway (Rt. 10)

Will it have a poker room? No
Is smoking permitted? It appears so. According to an article by the Reading Eagle, “an area with 160 slot machines for smokers to play is being created off the main casino floor.”

Rewards program: The mychoice rewards program gives players the opportunity to earn, redeem and get rewarded at over 35 Penn National Gaming locations nationwide.
3Cs experience: Penn National’s other PA casinos (Hollywood York, The Meadows, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course) allows guests to go “cardless, cashless and contactless.” Yes, cash is still accepted.
Mini-casinos became legal in PA in 2017 and the first one, Live! Casino Pittsburgh, opened in Oct. 2020. Penn National opened Hollywood Casino York, also a mini-casino, in early August 2021.
When does Hollywood Casino Morgantown open?
It’s beginning to look a lot like a “Hollywood holiday.” Hollywood Casino Morgantown it expects to open to the public on Wednesday, December 22 at noon pending final regulatory approvals.
Marc Guastella, Vice President and General Manager for Hollywood Casino Morgantown, said in a press release:
“The countdown to our grand opening begins today. We’re very excited to soon welcome patrons to this beautiful new property, where they’ll be able to experience premier gaming, dining and entertainment.”
Prior to opening to the public, Penn National will host two invitation-only test days. This is a time for casinos to get ready to go “live” and usually to get an invite, you have to be a player at a certain tier on the rewards program. The proceeds from the two test days will go to local charities United Way of Berks County, Honey Brook Food Pantry and the Jarett Yoder Foundation.
It’s been quite a big year for Penn National mini-casinos. Hollywood Casino York opened in August.
Hollywood Casino Morgantown hiring
Like every casino in PA, Hollywood Casino Morgantown is hiring. The casino is looking to fill 375 positions.

According to a press release from Penn National Gaming, the positions offer competitive pay, benefits and up to $1,500 in sign-on bonuses for new team members. There is also a raffle for opening day employees to win a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

According to LinkedIn, Marc Guastella was named the VP/GM of Hollywood Morgantown. He previously served as the Vice President and Assistant General Manager of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course. The mini-casino now has a page under hollywoodpnrc.com and introduces Guastella as the VP/GM.

Restaurants at Hollywood Casino Morgantown
Hollywood Casino Morgantown’s newly created Facebook page introduced the dining options:
- Red Lotus: A noodle shop with Southeast Asian specialties
- Tony Luke’s: A taste of Philadelphia in Morgantown. The menu will have cheesesteaks, roast pork sandwiches, chicken cutlets and more.
- Bar 76: located adjacent to the 76 Grill seating space on the south end of the casino.
Barstool Sportsbook at Morgantown
Penn National Gaming gave the Reading Eagle a sneak peak in late September. Hollywood Casin York also has a Barstool Sportsbook, but according the Reading Eagle, the one at Morgantown will have a different feel most notably:
- An old-school stadium theme
- Four jumbotrons
- Bleachers
- Seating for between 150-175
- An outside patio area with high top tables and a fire pit
- Barstool Sportsbook merchandise station

During the Nov. 10 PGCB meeting, Hollywood Casino Morgantown (Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association is the license holder) petitioned for, and was granted approval to conduct table games. Reps from Penn National Gaming and Hollywood Casino gave more information on the progress of the mini-casino.
For table games, Hollywood Casino Morgantown will have two end-to-end pits directly in front of the West Entrance. One pit with all Asian-style game will be situated next to Red Lotus.
