Golden Nugget Launches As 20th Pennsylvania Online Casino

Another PA online casino has been added to the mix. Golden Nugget Casino PA, after conducting a testing period with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), is the 20th platform to launch in the Keystone State.

Besides the tremendous growth opportunity in Pennsylvania, the newest operator has a lot in its favor. Golden Nugget is owned by DraftKings and has a strong retail presence in Atlantic City, New Jersey, which is familiar to players living in eastern Pennsylvania.

Golden Nugget PA online casino now available following soft launch

The newest PA online casino completed a soft launch with the PGCB and is now fully live.

“We’re thrilled to announce that Golden Nugget Online Gaming’s mobile casino is now available to customers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” said Matt Kalish, President, DraftKings North America, in a press release. “The app is powered by our leading technology, which dynamically brings hundreds of popular casino games and exclusive content to our customers’ fingertips. Pennsylvanians will be able to enjoy superior customer service, rewarding promotions, and a smooth interface while playing on Golden Nugget Online Gaming.”

Golden Nugget is the third online operator to enter the PA market this year. Tropicana Casino PA launched in late April and Bally Casino joined the state in June.

The PGCB also approved Golden Nugget’s petition to operate in the Keystone State in June. The PGCB then licensed the operator during a July board meeting. PGCB Director of Communications, Doug Harbach, told PlayPennsylvania on July 26 that Golden Nugget had to conduct testing with the board before it could launch.

It was a long road for Golden Nugget to enter the market after applying for licensure through the PGCB’s Qualified Gaming Entity (QGE) process in October 2018. An operator does not need to partner with a land-based casino in the state to launch online as a QGE.

What to expect with Golden Nugget Casino Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania players can expect Golden Nugget to look a lot like DraftKings Casino PA. Golden Nugget’s online casino is structured with the same colors and tabs as DraftKings’ homepage.

Golden Nugget also has many DraftKings-branded games, such as:

The new PA online casino is on the same technology stack as DraftKings.

The brand has a strong presence in New Jersey and Michigan. New Jersey also does not break down revenue by operator, however, Golden Nugget was the first platform to launch in the Garden State. The Golden Nugget Atlantic City license produced $41.8 million of June revenue, leading the state. Golden Nugget Michigan generated the fifth-most revenue in June ($6.9 million) behind BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings and BetRivers.

Golden Nugget clearly has merit to operate a successful online casino in Pennsylvania. It also doesn’t hurt to benefit from DraftKings’ games and technology stack.
