Global Poker and Poker Central partner up

Global Poker, a social poker site, is now the online poker partner for live poker content provider, Poker Central. The arrangement will involve Global Poker branding at a number of Poker Central’s premier live events.

Among the events mentioned in Tuesday’s press release are:

  • Super High Roller Bowl
  • Poker Masters
  • US Poker Open
  • Poker After Dark
  • Additional domestic and international events

Global Poker is a sweepstakes gaming site out of Malta, and Poker Central is a tournament provider and broadcaster based in Las Vegas. Poker Central is well-known for its partnerships with various reputable poker tours, including the World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker.

Poker Central’s subscription-based broadcast service PokerGO costs $10 per month and delivers more than 100 days of live-streamed poker annually. It also offers an extensive video-on-demand library including original series and other poker programming.

In Pennsylvania, Global Poker is the other option besides PokerStars PA for online poker players. The partnership will undoubtedly grow the reach of the Global Poker brand to an established audience of poker enthusiasts.

Expect a ‘Global Poker Lounge’ and enhanced player experience

Global Poker’s sponsorship will include live stream integrations with Poker Central, including the creation of a Global Poker Lounge inside the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

The press release promises that the alliance “will provide fans a heightened poker viewing experience, both on-site and via streaming.”

Sampson Simmons, president of Poker Central, said of the partnership:

“Kicking off this partnership with Global Poker has been a dream come true for our team. Our two companies share a common goal of making poker accessible to fans worldwide, and this partnership will allow both to advance that mission through live events and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.”

Global Poker plans to provide its players with exclusive experiences during Poker Central’s events. Some examples include meet-and-greets, giveaways, and opportunities to qualify for live events online.

David Lyons, GM of Global Poker, explained:

“Given the prestige of Poker Central’s events, bringing our brands together feels like the next step in taking both partners to the next level. This partnership will not only promote the events, but offer countless opportunities to bring poker players and enthusiasts from all over the world into the action.”

Global Poker operates on the sweepstakes model

Global Poker is available for players in 49 states – all states besides Washington – according to Online Poker Report.

The site follows a “sweepstakes model” wherein players can purchase gold coins which come with “free sweeps coins.” Gold coins are virtual currency, the equivalent of play money. No purchase is necessary to enjoy their gold coins poker games.

Sweeps coins poker tournaments pay out sweeps coins to top finishers, just like regular poker tournaments at real-money sites. There are also ring games (cash games) that work the same way. However, in this case, players just need to redeem sweeps coins for real money when they wish to cash out, which can be done directly to US bank accounts similar to other gambling sites.

Global Poker awards millions in cash and other prizes to US players each month. With this monumental arrangement with Poker Central, the site is set to grow its reach even more.
