The gambling world keeps calling.
As gaming and sports betting expands across the United States, the industry’s growth keeps attracting more entities and operators.
The latest could be Betway, a successful European sportsbook brand aiming for a place in Pennsylvania.
The company has pending applications with the Pennsylvania Gaming and Control Board for both sports wagering and iGaming.
At present, Pennsylvania’s regulations require that sports betting operators align with a brick and mortar casino. That limits Betway’s potential partners substantially, as many casinos already have an online sportsbook match.
However, the presence of Pennsylvania’s mini casinos does allow for some possibilities. In December, the BetMGM brand launched its online sportsbook in a partnership with the Hollywood Casino, a mini casino that is still under construction.
The Betway app should find a home in Colorado and New Jersey soon
Across the country, Betway has plans to open sportsbooks in both Colorado and New Jersey (“Coming Soon” according to an internet banner) and eight other states as well.
Last month, the European company reached a brand license agreement with casino supplier Digital Gaming Corporation.
In the US, the blended company will be known as DGC Betway. And according to its website, “DGC Betway has secured market access agreements for 10 US States, for online Sports Betting, and where allowed by law, iGaming. DGC will continue to strive towards expanding its footprint across the US. And (the company) is committed to finding partners that fit with its strategic objectives.”
In terms of sports betting and potential offerings in Pennsylvania, the company’s website provides a preview of what the DGC Betway product will look like.
“Under the Betway brand, DGC will offer world-class pre-match and in-play sports betting across all major US and European sports leagues, using some of the most established and secure sports betting software and leading products available. Play will be accessible to patrons via Mobile and Desktop web, as well as Mobile App for both iOS and Android.”
“…DGC Betway will (also) offer attractive sports promotions as well as provide innovative product features such as live streaming, early cash-out, partial cash-out, and our unique Bet Builder (#BetYourWay).”
Betway’s profile should expand alongside the growth of legalized gambling in America
Currently, Betway operates in 20 different markets across the globe. Those include a number of countries where the Betway app is already live (the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Sweden).
The parent company currently has its headquarters in Malta, but it’s reasonable to expect a growing presence in America as the group expands operations. More than 20 states in the U.S. have legalized some form of sports betting and it’s logical to envision more growth in the coming years. Betway aims to be right in the middle of it.
One of its targets is Pennsylvania. And although it’s unclear how its online sportsbook will arrive, it’s a safe bet that it’s only a matter of time.
After all, the American gambling market keeps calling.
And Betway is ready to answer.
