Multiple online casinos appear to be jockeying each other for headlines in Pennsylvania. FanDuel has improved customer retention rates, which has made the operator a viable contender in the Keystone State.
FanDuel has moved up to the second-best platform in the market, behind DraftKings. It’ll be interesting to see how the competitive field of PA online casinos shakes out in 2024.
FanDuel showing signs of increased customer retention among PA casinos online
FanDuel has the strongest sportsbook across the country, including Pennsylvania, but is also building an empire in the online casino space. The EKG Line of Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, written by Brad Allen and Chris Krafcik, is reporting that FanDuel Casino PA has displayed the top customer retention rate over the last 60 days, according to a newsletter emailed to PlayPennsylvania.
It recorded a 5% retention rate and beat out competitors such as BetMGM Casino PA and DraftKings Casino PA. Here are the results:
- FanDuel: 5%
- BetMGM: 4%
- DraftKings: 2%
The EKG Line used information from Sensor Tower, a data intelligence and analytics company, to determine retention rates from the standalone casino apps. It also said that FanDuel improved its gross gaming revenue (GGR) and has room to grow:
“The Flutter owned-operator has a 22% market share over the trailing three months through November, up from 20% over the trailing 12 months.”
FanDuel’s platform ranked fifth in The EKG Line’s proprietary casino app testing. Should FanDuel move up the ranks, it could claim the top overall gambling spot in 2024.

FanDuel Casino PA has come a long way
One of the top Pennsylvania online casino stories to watch this year is the emergence of FanDuel. It’s possible the operator overtakes DraftKings for the top position.
DraftKings became the market share leader in the online casino space, it announced during a Q2 2023 earnings call.
Even more impressive, the Earnings+More newsletter mentioned it became the overall leader in online gambling.
FanDuel has a ways to go before it can claim that title. However, the operator has been quietly building a successful online casino, especially in Pennsylvania. In January 2023, FanDuel and Stardust Casino PA, partnered with Valley Forge Casino, generated $33.1 million in revenue.
The operator has been ascending ever since. Here are Valley Forge Casino’s revenue totals since August:
- August: $39.4 million
- September: $42.4 million
- October: $43.8 million
- November: $51 million
The licensee set a new record in each of those four months, with FanDuel carrying much of the weight.
The operator most recently announced itself as the No. 2 online casino in the US. FanDuel’s growth in the Pennsylvania market, the most robust in the country, is proof that the platform isn’t done growing.
DraftKings may need to start looking over its shoulder.
