Things have changed in ACC college football. The No. 23 Pitt Panthers are favored against unranked Clemson on Oct. 23 at Heinz Field. Clemson entered the season ranked No. 2 and favored to win a seventh straight ACC Conference title.
The Panthers are 5-1 and lead the entire conference in total offense, producing a whopping 533.5 yards per game.
According to SI.com, it’s the first time Clemson haven’t been favored against an ACC opponent since 2014.
Things have changed so much that Pitt heads into the game as 3.5-point favorites on Pennsylvania betting apps.

Pitt’s season win total is within reach
A win on Saturday would get Pitt within two victories of reaching the over on the team’s season win total.
DraftKings had Pitt’s over/under for victories this season set at 7.5. FanDuel and BetRivers had the Panthers’ total set at 7.
Pitt’s ACC futures prices keep dropping
A victory this weekend would also help Pitt stay ahead in the ACC ’s Coastal Division. The Panthers are presently 2-0, with Virginia in second place at 3-2.
DraftKings had the Panthers at +4500 to win the ACC at the beginning of the season. Those odds have now dropped all the way to +120. A win Saturday would push them even lower.
With Clemson looming this week and Miami visiting Pittsburgh next Saturday (Oct. 30), the Panthers future prospects will become a lot more clear.
Kenny Pickett Heisman odds
Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett is a major reason the Panthers have impressed this season. Pickett has 1,934 yards passing with 21 touchdowns and only one interception. His Heisman odds have also ascended alongside his stellar play.
Pickett opened the year at +10000 to win the Heisman Trophy at DraftKings and FanDuel. Now, Pickett is priced at +2200 for the award on DraftKings and +2000 at FanDuel.
At BetMGM, their biggest liabilities in the Heisman market are currently:
- Kenneth Walker III
- Matt Corral
- Kenny Pickett
And with a win on Saturday, Pickett’s profile will shine even brighter.
The ACC season reaches a crossroads Saturday
Pitt’s rise and Clemson’s fall have turned things upside down in the ACC this season. But a single game can change quite a bit. The Panthers could fall into familiar depths with a home loss. And Clemson could salvage some of its season with a win.
There’s a lot at stake at Heinz Field on Saturday. Things have certainly changed. But will they stay that way?
