Powerball kicks off the new month offering up a jackpot of $148 million for Sept. 3. As always, a jackpot winner can choose to take the cash value of the prize in a single payment instead of the annuity option. The lump sum cash value of tonight’s prize is $83.1 million, before withholding.
On Wednesday, seven different players hit Powerball’s second-tier prize, winning at least $1 million each. Tickets sold in California, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York and Virginia matched all five white balls drawn, winning $1 million. Only one player hit that win with the Power Play option on their ticket. That player, in Tennessee came away with $2 million.

First Millionaire of the Year drawing opens in PA
There’s a new PA Lottery Second Chance Drawing open, and this one could make you the first new millionaire of 2023. For the fourth year in a row, the PA Lottery is offering players a chance at Powerball’s First Millionaire of the Year prize, which will be awarded during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
Finalists from various states will be entered into the final drawing during the live televised event. A PA resident won last year’s $1 million prize.
From now through Sept. 22, Pennsylvania Lottery players can enter the following winning or non-winning tickets into the special drawing: Treasure Hunt, Cash 5 with Quick Cash, Match 6 Lotto, Cash4Life, Powerball, Mega Millions, the PICK family of games, and Keno.
