Florida’s youngest jackpot winner

The March 27 Powerball drawing had a jackpot worth $235 million. In fact, Thomas Yi, 23, from Land O’ Lakes, FL became the Sunshine State’s 15th jackpot winner while simultaneously gaining the title as the state’s youngest winner.

Yi stated:

“Even after matching all six numbers, I was in disbelief and took my ticket to a retailer to have it checked. The clerk at the counter instantly became excited and kept repeating that I had won the $235 million Powerball jackpot. I knew then that this would be life changing.”

The FL Lottery reported that Yi took the lump sum payment of just over $160 million after required taxes and withholding. Despite having a great deal of newfound wealth, Yi still intends to finish his college degree in either the business or medical field.
