Bricken for Chicken Replaces Frosty Freeze Out on 2022-23 Sixers Promotional Schedule

76ers home game promos include bricken for chicken

If you’ve ever been to a Sixers game, the crowd turns it up when an opponent is on the free throw line in the second half of a game. Why?

When an opponent misses two consecutive free throws in the second half, fans at the Wells Fargo Center would receive a free frosty from Wendy’s the next day.

The promotion itself isn’t going anywhere, but there’s been a change in the winning food item.

We’ll also detail other Sixers promotions for the 2022-23 season.

Bricken for Chicken replaces Frosty Freeze Out

The Frosty Freeze Out was one of the best promotions in the NBA. Fans got on their feet and shouted at the top of their lungs for the free frosty. So much so, it’s gotten a little personal at times.

Luckily for the well-behaved Sixers fans, the promotion is staying put.

Instead of the Sixers’ partnership with the Wendy’s Frosty Freeze Out, the Sixers have now partnered with Chik-fil-A for the new Bricken For Chicken promotion. The same rules mostly apply, but fans will receive:

  • 5-count Chick-fil-A nuggets the first time an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws.
  • 8-count Chick-fil-A nuggets the second time an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws.
  • 12-count Chick-fil-A nuggets the third time an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws.

Sixers fans in the Greater Philadelphia area need to download the Chik-fil-A app to redeem their chicken. The offer is available until 10:30 a.m. the next business day or can be used when placing a mobile order within three days after the qualifying game. Fans do not need to attend the game to claim the offer.

The first free nuggets of the season came at the hands of Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday night’s home opener.

Shots, pun intended, have already been fired at Ben Simmons, who makes two visits to the Wells Fargo Center with the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 22 and Jan. 25. Simmons is a career 59.7% free throw shooter in the regular season and a 52% free throw shooter in the playoffs. In the 2021 playoffs, Simmons’ last games with the Sixers, he shot 34.2% from the line.

Success of Sixers free throw promotion

The Sixers have been in the top three in attendance, and led the league once, since 2018. The arena can get loud in the second half of games knowing a free frosty – and now chicken – is on the line.

Last season, opposing teams shot 77.1% from the free throw line in the second half which was below the league average.

The promotion has become so popular, the Eagles took on the Frosty Freeze Out this season.

If the Eagles stop an opponent from scoring a touchdown in the first quarter of home and road games this season, fans receive a free small frosty from Wendy’s.

So far, fans won a frosty in three weeks:

  • At Washington: Week 3
  • At Arizona: Week 5
  • Vs. Dallas: Week 6

Other Sixers promotions for 2022-23 season

The Sixers do not hand out many many free giveaways, though fans heading to the Wells Fargo Center for the home opener vs. Milwaukee will get this free t-shirt.

Instead, they have a lot of themed night celebrations:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 2: Greek Heritage Night
  • Saturday, Nov. 12: Military Appreciation Night
  • Sunday, Dec. 11: Girls Scout Group Night
  • Tuesday, Jan. 10: First Responders Group Night
  • Saturday, Jan. 28: Kids Day
  • Wednesday, Feb. 1: HBCU Night
  • Wednesday, Feb. 15: Nurse Appreciation Night
  • Monday, Feb. 27: Pride Night
  • Friday, March 31: Go Green Night

Sixers Corona Bar Network

When the Sixers are on the road, go out to the bar and watch with your friends.

The Sixers are introducing the Corona Bar Network, where 40 bars across Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware will host Sixers-themed bar nights.

Seven of those locations will be hosting watch parties for select road games this season. The watch parties will include the Sixers entertainment team and merchandise giveaways.
