Bally’s Increased Online Casino Revenue In April To Buck Trend

Bally's Casino in Atlantic City. Bally's became one of the only operators to improve revenue in April, solidifying itself as a strong player in the Keystone State.

In what was considered a slower month for Pennsylvania online casinos, Bally’s is one of the only operators to experience a month-over-month increase in revenue in April.

Bally Casino PA‘s earnings improved 6% last month compared to March and it finished ahead of Golden Nugget for the first time since each company launched.

Bally’s and Golden Nugget are forever linked because the platforms went live in the Keystone State within months of each other.

Bally’s comes close to $5 million in April revenue

While Bally’s isn’t considered a FanDuel, DraftKings or BetMGM, the operator is starting to make a name for itself, especially after coming off its first profitable month in Q1.

The three PA online casino market leaders each saw a decrease in revenue with their respective licensees. However, Bally’s is one of the only platforms that improved in April.

It launched in Pennsylvania as a Qualified Gaming Entity, which means it did not need to partner with a land-based casino. Since that is the case, and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board does not break down revenue by operator, Bally’s is one of the only operators where revenue totals are decipherable.

Bally’s has been steadily growing revenue and climbing the ranks in the Keystone State. This year alone, it has produced the following monthly figures:

  • January: $3.4 million
  • February: $3.9 million
  • March: $4.5 million
  • April: $4.7 million

Some of the top operators in Pennsylvania fell slightly in April when compared to March. The licensees that include the market leaders decreased in revenue, compared to Bally’s 6% increase:

  • Hollywood Penn National (DraftKings, BetMGM, Hollywood, Fanatics): -10.9%
  • Valley Forge Casino (FanDuel, Stardust): -8.7%
  • Rivers Casino Philadelphia (BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse, Borgata): -6.5%

Operator surpasses Golden Nugget for first time in April

While Bally’s and Golden Nugget are not atop of the revenue leaders, both are considered strong operators and easily comparable.

Bally Casino went live in Pennsylvania in June, as did Golden Nugget in August. The only time Golden Nugget finished ahead was in August.

Bally'sGolden Nugget
August$2.6 million$1.7 million
September$2.2 million$6.3 million
October$2.4 million$5.2 million
November$2.7 million$4.6 million
December$3.4 milllion$5.2 million
January$3.4 million$4.1 million
February$3.9 million$4.8 million
March$4.5 million$5.4 million
April$4.7 million$4.4 million

Since then, Bally’s looked to be buried as one of the last licensees in the state. It has now passed the following platforms:

  • Mohegan
  • Wind Creek Casino
  • PlayLive! Casino
  • Golden Nugget

Bally’s is attempting to track down PokerStars next, as it finished just $300,000 shy last month.

Should Bally’s surpass another operator, it’ll be in the conversation as a top five licensee with brands such as betPARX, Caesars and Tropicana.
