After a down July, Pennsylvania’s online casino market rebounded in a big way. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that online casino operators recorded $171.9 million in August revenue. During the process, online casinos surpassed the $1 billion threshold for slot revenue in 2023.
It’s the state’s second-largest total of all time, falling short of March 2022’s record of $181.5 million.
Pennsylvania online casinos failed to meet $160 million in July revenue, but got back on track nicely before the start of the fall. August represents the last “slow” month for gaming as a whole, but online casinos in Pennsylvania continue to showcase impressive numbers.

Quick analysis from August PA online casino figures
- Pennsylvania online casinos crossed the $1 billion threshold for slot revenue after August’s $132.2 million total for the vertical. For comparison purposes, online slot revenue did not reach $1 billion until October in 2022. PA online casinos are constantly upgrading and adding fresh slots to their library, which motivates players to keep coming back.
- While online slots get the majority of headlines, table games also reached a milestone by passing $300 million in yearly revenue. Pennsylvania live dealer games have a strong appetite in the state, and is a key reason why table games pushed across the $300 million total.
- Pennsylvania online casinos recorded a 9.5% increase in month-over-month revenue, compared to a 6.9% increase in August 2022. In what proved to be the second-largest revenue total of all time, it’ll be interesting to see if Pennsylvania can eventually surpass the $181.5 million it set back in March. Now that football is back in full swing, it wouldn’t be surprising if more crossover promos contributed to even higher online casino revenue totals.
