It’s the year of the super team.

And the Philadelphia 76ers have a great one. The offseason acquisition of veteran Al Horford adds some leadership to a talented young roster that is +220 to win the Eastern Conference, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Bucks, Sixers are Eastern Conference favorites

The NBA regular season tips off Tuesday and Philadelphia is a betting favorite in the Eastern Conference.  Only the Milwaukee Bucks (+150) have better odds to win the East.

But the betting storylines go so much farther. The Western Conference is loaded, a number of superstars switched teams, and there are so many bets available on all of it, that you’re going to need some help to keep your head from spinning.

Thankfully, we’ve got you covered. Our pre-season NBA betting guide will get you all caught up in plenty of time to get your bets down.

Let’s start with our home-state team…

76ers are among top 5 favorites to win the title

Fun fact: Parx Sportsbook is an official partner with the 76ers. At that site, Philadelphia is +700 to win the NBA Championship. The LA Clippers, who added both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George this offseason, are the favorites at +325.

They’re followed by LeBron James and the Lakers at +420.  The Lakers acquired big man Anthony Davis this summer. The Bucks (+650), 76ers (+700), and Houston Rockets (+800), who now have Russell Westbrook and James Harden, round out the top five.

Last year’s champions, the Golden State Warriors are +1,100 without Kevin Durant, who joined the Brooklyn Nets (+2500). The Utah Jazz, who also made some significant offseason additions, are also intriguing at +1,400.

Joel Embiid +1,200, Ben Simmons +5,000 for NBA MVP

Let’s continue our PA sportsbook tour with a sampling of the futures odds at PlaySugarHouse. That site has Sixers center Joel Embiid as +1200 to win the NBA’s MVP, with teammate Ben Simmons a much longer shot at +5000. Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is the betting favorite at +275. Other notable players and their odds are as follows.

  • Stephen Curry +450
  • James Harden +700
  • Anthony Davis +750
  • LeBron James +900
  • Kawhi Leonard +900
  • Nikola Jokic +1,100
  • Damian Lillard +2,800
  • Russell Westbrook +2,800
  • Paul George +3,000
  • Luka Doncic +5,000

Philadelphia expected to win the Atlantic Division

PlaySugarHouse also has futures odds posted on the NBA’s division winners. The 76ers are favorites to capture the Atlantic Division at -167. The Boston Celtics, who added guard Kemba Walker from Charlotte, are next in line at +410. The Toronto Raptors (+500), Brooklyn Nets (+550), and New York Knicks (+25000!) round out the division.

Across the league, the other division favorites are:

  • Central Division: Milwaukee Bucks, -1,000
  • Northwest Division: Denver Nuggets, +125
  • Pacific Division: Los Angeles Clippers, -167
  • Southeast Division: Miami Heat, -118
  • Southwest Division: Houston Rockets, -278

The Heat are bolstered by the addition of former 76er Jimmy Butler. Shooting guard Josh Richardson, who spent his first four seasons with Miami, will help to replace Butler in Philadelphia.

Sixers are heavy favorites to make the playoffs

Another bet available at PlaySugarHouse is whether the 76ers will make the NBA Playoffs. The current “Yes” price is -10,000. “No” would return +1,600.

In other futures, the Sixers season win total is posted at 54.5. Last year, the team won 51 games in the regular season.

FanDuel has futures posted for season points, rebounds, and blocks

For players more focused on individual honors than team odds, FanDuel has a number of futures posted on the season leaders in a few different statistical categories.

Zion Williamson is the favorite to win Rookie of the Year at -134. Memphis guard Ja Morant is +400 and Knicks guard RJ Barrett is +450. Following them are Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland at +1,400 and Tyler Herro  at +1,700.

James Harden expected to win the scoring title

FanDuel’s futures have targeted Houston’s James Harden (-105) as the favorite to win the title for highest scoring average. Warriors guard Steph Curry is +250 and Giannis Antetokounmpo is +850. The other favorites are:

  • Anthony Davis, +950
  • Devin Booker, +1,200
  • Bradley Beal, +1,600
  • Joel Embiid, +1,600
  • Damian Lillard, +1,900
  • Kawhi Leonard, +2,300

Jazz center Rudy Gobert is favored to win the Defensive POY

On the defensive side of the ball, Jazz center Rudy Gobert is the oddsmakers pick (+160) to be defensive Player of the Year. Antetokounmpo is next at +420 and Anthony Davis is +550. Joel Embiid made the board at +750 and Paul George (+850) and Draymond Green (+1200) follow him.

FanDuel also has odds available on the rebounding and block leaders for the upcoming season. Pistons center Andre Drummond (-220) is the heavy favorite for highest rebounding average, followed by Embiid (+800) and Antetokounmpo (+850).

The player expected to have the most blocks per game is Mitchell Robinson (+150), a lesser known big-man for the New York Knicks. Myles Turner (+290) and Gobert (+360), follow him.

Season starts with the battle for LA

Futures odds should update soon after the season tips off next week.

If you’d rather wager on individual games, Tuesday night offers a two-game slate. The defending-champion Toronto Raptors are seven-point favorites in their home opener against Williamson and the new-look New Orleans Pelicans. Later that night, the Los Angeles Lakers are 1.5-point favorites in a cross-town showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers. The 76ers are six-point favorites in their season opener Wednesday with the Boston Celtics.

Beyond that, there will be even more betting options available once the DraftKings online site gets approved by the PGCB, which should happen within the next month.

The year of the super-team is about to begin.

Thankfully, the 76ers are one of them. Their fans finally have a lot to look forward to.

And if they’re so inclined, there’s a lot to bet on too.
