For the third time in Powerball’s 31-year history, the jackpot reached the $1 billion threshold for the Wednesday, July 19 drawing. And now Powerball has its third $1 billion winner!
One ticket, sold in California, won the monumental prize. Once the prize is claimed, the winner will choose between the $1.08 billion annuity, or the cash option of $558.1 million, before taxes.
Opting for the annuity choice would mean receiving an immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that progressively increase by 5% each year.
Wednesday’s winning Powerball jackpot numbers were: 7-10-11-13-24 and Powerball 24.
36 other Powerball tickets won $1 million on Wednesday
In addition to three tickets across the US that won $2 million, there were 36 more that won $1 million.
The $2 million winners had their second-tier prize doubled by purchasing their tickets with Power Play for an additional $1. Those winning tickets were sold in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Florida. The PA ticket was sold in Clearfield County at Walmart on Industrial Drive in DuBois.
The $1 million winners hailed from 16 different states. California had a total of seven of those winners:
- California – 7
- Connecticut – 1
- Florida – 4
- Illinois – 1
- Indiana – 1
- Kentucky – 1
- Massachusetts – 3
- Maryland – 2
- Missouri – 1
- New Hampshire – 1
- New Jersey – 2
- New York – 5
- Ohio – 1
- Texas – 4
- Wisconsin – 1
- West Virginia – 1
Pennsylvania players can now buy tickets online at the PA iLottery website or mobile app. Online tickets offer automatic notifications if you win a prize, so you never miss out on potential winnings.

Recent Powerball winners
Monday’s winning numbers were 5, 8, 9, 17, 41 and Powerball 21. The Power Play multiplier was 4x.
While the nearly $1 billion jackpot remained elusive during Monday night’s drawing, there were plenty of big winners. Five lucky players from different states (CT, FL, KY, NY, PA) matched all five white balls, securing a cool $1 million each. But it gets better for three players from Arkansas, Georgia and Texas, who had the foresight to include the Power Play option and doubled their winnings to $2 million each.
PA Lottery players didn’t miss out on the fun. The Keystone State’s three biggest winners won $1.4 million in prizes. One ticket sold in Delaware County landed a $1 million prize, and two other tickets sold in Lycoming and Allegheny counties made out with $200,000 each.
Those three winning tickets were sold at:
- Bethel Food Market in Garnet Valley, Delaware County
- Right-A-Way in Williamsport, Lycoming County
- Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County
Odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot
While the major jackpot is alluring, it’s important to put it in perspective. The chances of scoring that coveted prize are a staggering 1 in 292.2 million. Even matching the first five balls to win the second-tier prize is a rare feat, with odds of 1 in 11.7 million.
The odds of winning any prize on Powerball are more encouraging at 1 in 24.9.
